UUCDC mentorship candidates enter a matchmaking pool in the spring. A mixer is held in April to get acquainted with the future Coming of Age students. A match between the student and his/her mentor will then be made with agreement among all parties, including the student's parents. Chosen mentors attend training in September. The chosen mentor will meet with his/her youth mentee in one-on-one and group experiences from October to May, twice a month (after church service and Sunday evenings) with occasional weekend events (two Saturdays), and two weekend retreats (Jan & May). Mentorship pairs meet together approximately once a month per their own scheduled availability. Mentor check-in with the COA leadership is held once a month. It is important for mentors to attend these events. We are looking for multiple mentors: 7 males and 3 females.
This opportunity will enable you to:
Expand your interactions with UUCDC youth. Learn more about Rites of Passage, Unitarian Universalist tradition & history, justice ministry, worship creation, and appreciation for the natural world. By participating in this program your gift of service helps support the development of our church youth program, our youth, and the future of Unitarian Universalism.
Leadership, teamwork, communication, workshop facilitation and camping skills
