Threshold Volunteer

We are a community of volunteers teaching decision-making skills to incarcerated individuals, empowering them to return to society as responsible members.

Detailed Description: 
You will learn to teach the 6-decision making program to adults in prison in Delaware County. You will work-on-one with inmates for about an hour a week for 7 weeks. Through easy-to0use guidebooks, inmates learn how to set goals and develop practical plans to reach them. Thresholds gives inmates the tools to think before they act. This is an incredibly rewarding interaction that inmates are very appreciative of. Meeting sites at the prison are safe, closely monitored, well-lit and non-threatening.
Service Term: 
3-6 months
This opportunity will enable you to: 

Make a difference in the lives of returning citizens post-incarceration. Inmates who graduate from this program are more likely to reintegrate into society and live full ives.

Skills Needed: 
Belief in second chances, willingness to learn about others, open-mindedness regarding differing paths, compassion.
Training, assistance, and safety requirements: 
Two-day training in the Threshold decision-making model, background check of volunteers in required.
