Youth Programs Grades 8-12

Youth Programs at UUCDC - Everyone is Welcome!

Grade 8 and 9 - "Coming of Age"

The Coming of Age (COA) program at UUCDC is one of the oldest in the region, and one of the most valued programs at our church! In this program, youth mark a rites of passage in a world that has erased many of these important growth markers. Similar to a confirmation or bar/batmitzvah, Coming of Age is a program specifically meant to explore one's personal faith, values and beliefs, and articulate them. Participants go on retreats, hold fundraising events with the church, and create a worship service in which they read their credos, or faith statements. The program is supplemented by volunteer mentors from the church community. The class typically meets Sunday evenings from 6 - 8:00 pm.

Additional fees and significant family involvement apply for the COA program. Due to the nature of this program, newcomers typically are not able to join in a COA cohort once the church year has started.
