In the fall and spring the UUCDC Choir performs a service for the UUCDC Congregation. This service followed recent monthly themes from the Soul Matters groups and sermons by Rev. Peter Friedrichs. The music director is Bob Rowland, and the accompanist on piano is Joy Thiessen. Photos by Bryan Boosz

The Playground Fence

Rose Tree Day School located at UUCDC recently installed a new fence around the playground at the front of the church property. Thanks RTDS for this attractive and safety feature of the property. Photos by Dotty Gardler and Bryan Boosz.

Blessings of the Animals October 2019

We began our month-long exploration of the spiritual theme of “Belonging” with two multigenerational services that honored our relationship with our pets. Well-behaved pets accompanied by responsible humans were welcomed to attend the services. Photos or stuffed animals to represent our pets were invited. We also honored our pets we have lost – congregants brought a photo of the departed pet for our Altar of Remembrance. Photos by Joan Karasick

In-Gathering 2019

On Sept 8, 2019, our church year at UUCDC started off with an annual gathering of the congregation. Outside in the front circle, Rev Peter and DRE Chrissy Bushyager greeted us with brief remarks. Board of Trustee president Joe Miller lit the chalice and the Lloyd-Nedza family carried it, leading us to the sanctuary. This year the Choir was already in place to sing us in. Part of the ritual is to bring back a stone from our summer days for the bowl of water to be blessed and used for joys and concerns in the coming year. Religious Education teachers, Board of Trustees, Executive Team members and Worship Associates were commissioned at this service as well. Church administrator Rina Jurceka was recognized for 20 years of service. A picnic luncheon hosted by the Board of Trustees followed, for all to enjoy time together.

Year End Picnic 2019

Our June 9, 2019 service included a recognition of our Religious Education program volunteers and was followed by the annual picnic celebration of the church year. Our youth group, the YUUCKIs, grilled hamburgers and hot dogs to make our potluck picnic a success. Thanks all who helped! Remember to bring back a stone from your summer travels, your backyard, or to give the stone you took to someone who needs it. If you need the stone for yourself, feel free to keep it for yourself.

2019 Coming of Age Service

On June 2, 2019, UUCDC celebrated our seven young people graduating from our Coming of Age program. The youth shared their experiences in their own words and led the service. During the past year, these young people learned, traveled, and played together. They served soup and climbed rock walls. They shared time with each other and their mentors. They have explored their Unitarian Universalist identity and values. Congratulations! Photos by Jen Goldberg and Dottie Gardler.
