April: First Place Swarthmore

The Share the Plate recipient for April is called First Place
Swarthmore, which is a Swarthmore Presbyterian Church
ministry. Due to the current refugee crisis in eastern Europe, First
Place Swarthmore will become a transitional housing location for
newly arrived families into our area. Working in close partnership
with the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS) of Philadelphia as
a local agency approved by the United States Department of
State to resettle refugees in our area, they will house and provide
support to families for a short period (typically four to six weeks) as
HIAS works to find a more permanent location for them to settle in
our area. This will allow First Place Swarthmore to help house
multiple families over the course of a year, providing a safe and
welcoming place for them as they arrive in the United States. Share
the Plate includes the plate collection on the second Sunday and
any funds sent via text: $20 STP to 610-756-8883 for a $20 donation.
