As Unitarian Universalists (UU), we at UUCDC live our faith through our service to others.

True spiritual growth, in ourselves and in our congregation, often arises through our connectedness with each other and the greater communities in which we live, and through serving a higher purpose that is greater than our own individual needs.

With that in mind, the church offers Growth Through Service (GTS), which enables it to better match congregants to service opportunities that fulfill you, feed your passion, and nurture your soul.

The process starts with meetings between GTS leaders and individuals or couples joining the church about the newcomers’ backgrounds, interests, skills, and desires to serve. Based on these conversations and available service roles, the GTS team suggests how you might volunteer your time and talents; you are free to take advantage of opportunities or turn them down, whatever works best for you and your schedule.

After the initial meetings, the goal is to have follow-up conversations with congregants every two years to ensure their spiritual goals and church service opportunities are aligned. A member of the GTS team attends coffee hour after Sunday services and most events to answer questions about the program and be available to schedule a discussion at your convenience.

GTS also recommends church members for leadership positions.
