At UUCDC, we believe in educating children and youth to enhance their values, beliefs, and relationships.

Religious Education (RE) begins with Sunday School and continues with programs for those in older grades. Our church school year runs mid-September to mid-May for 2023–2024, during which we offer two programs for middle school or high school youth.

Grades 7–8 Our Whole Lives (OWL)

For 2023–2024, UUCDC’s 7th and 8th graders will have a year of comprehensive sexuality education with the OWL curriculum, a faith and sexuality program co-authored by the Unitarian Universalist Association and the United Church of Christ. Parents attend information sessions in September and classes begin in early October. OWL requires a commitment to regular attendance by parents and youth. Due to the nature of the course, once the OWL class has started for the year, new students and visitors are not able to join. In other years, OWL may be offered for other K–12 grades.

Grades 9–12 Y.U.U.C.K.I. (Young Unitarian Universalists Combined for Knowledge and Interest)

Y.U.U.C.K.I. (pronounced “yuck-ee”) is a youth-led high school group with adult advisers. Meeting Sunday mornings at 11:15 a.m. during the church school year, students plan social events, raise funds for service trips, and are involved in the life of the church. Each year they create and lead a worship service for the congregation during which graduating youth are recognized and celebrated.

All youth attending programs at UUCDC must be registered here.
