The Creative Power of Tension

Rev. Peter and Worship Associate Kathy Alston explore an unlikely source of creativity: tension and anxiety. How can we harness these emotions, which have the power to paralyze us, to our advantage?

Mother's Day and Flower Communion

This Sunday Rev. Peter and DRE Chrissy Bushyager help us celebrate two cherished traditions: Mother's Day and Flower Communion. We recognize and affirm all those who have played a nurturing role in our lives, and we'll repeat an honored tradition of exchanging flowers that represent the beauty and diversity of our community.

Love Themes

Coffee shops have provided us with a whole new vocabulary to employ in ordering our favorite caffeinated beverage to exact specifications. Yet when we discuss the topic of Love, the English language leaves us ill-equipped to clarify its myriad meanings. Ancient Greek philosophers solved this dilemma by classifying different types of love. In our Special Music Sunday, 'Love Themes', we explore through poetry and song, seven different types of love as the Greeks defined them and celebrate love in worship: from the love of parent to child, to universal love.

As this is an all music service, there is no text.  The audio contains the Reading and an explanation of the musical selections by our Musical Director Bob Rowland.  The musical performances cannot be part of the audio due to licensing issues.

Dear Earth

The spiritual practice of gardening helps us cultivate a sense of reverence for the earth and our deep relationship to it. On this Earth Day we celebrate the ways we can deepen that connection and care for this home we share. Rev. Libby Smith and Worship Associate Josie Cressler offer their reflections.

The Promise and the Practice of Our Faith - Voices of Black Unitarian Universalists

What would it be like if our UU worship service centered entirely around the voices and the experiences of black Unitarian Universalists? What truths might we hear, however difficult? What might we learn? How might these black UU leaders teach us to be better allies, better siblings in faith, and even better citizens in our community?  Join us for this special service, presented by Rev. Peter and members of the UUCDC Black Lives Matter group.
