This program started out with fundraising and hosting concerts to support the local chapter of NAACP. Over the years the support has grown and we now include the total amount for the scholarships in our annual budget. Your annual pledge dollars help support this program and others. Activities relating to the scholarship such as maintaining connections with the NAACP are carried out by people within the Anti-Racism Coalition such as Kathy Alston, who had been responsible for previous fundraising.
We currently provide four scholarships of $2000 each. Each recipient receives $2000 each of the four years they are in college. The recipients are chosen by the NAACP chapter and we enthusiastically support them. The recipients are invited each year to attend our YUUCKI Bridging service in June and new scholars are also given a quilt.
