V is for Voting

As UUs we affirm and promote “the right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large.” This is our 5th principle and is sometimes written for children as “everyone has a vote.” Many early Unitarians and Universalists were involved in suffrage campaigns and voting drives. Modern UUs are active in election reform and voting rights. The UUA has a campaign called UU the Vote which promotes faithful action towards democracy. The online launch of the 2024 UU the Vote campaign is on March 14th at 7 p.m. Register here.
